Channel 7 Is The Station, Best Known In The Nation

« on: January 07, 2009, 04:35:47 AM »

From my wishes & prediction post last week....

........I strongly hope they would have a better year for the stations they serve as well as other stations they would acquire in the future. Maybe a composition of The Tower v.4 in similar instrumentation of Impact v.5 perhaps?

Well, v4 is a reality. Samples are already at 615's site. Let me make this perfectly clear, that the statement above was more of a suggestion than a prediction. If I would've made a prediction of v.4, I would've also made an hypothesis of when the theme would also be unveiled and/or starting to be used at stations, which I would still be wrong.

As for the theme for itself, it's a nice update as were coming towards the end of analog TV in six weeks. Some themes sounds like the instrumentation of Impact v.5 (as I kind of pointed it out in my predictions). I still wouldn't want to hear it on WMAQ (which still used v.1 for most cues used on their newscasts). It's not the best update IMO, but it kind of brings some mixture of orchestral & upbeat into one.

IMO, 615 does need a rebound after most Gannett, NBC and some other stations across the country dropped their sounds last year. So we'll see how many NBC affils pick up this latest installment of the 8 year old Tower Series.

WTHR (the Dispatch Broadcast Group-owned NBC affiliate in Indianapolis) is the first station to commission the package back in 2008 when they unveiled their new set and graphics. They only used the package for its opens and bumpers, but they used other versions of The Tower for its bumpers and closes.

You're misunderstanding the meaning of the word "commission".  Only one station is responsible for commissioning a package; this is the station that pays the composition costs of the package, and therefore, they also have direct input on the package.  The station the package is custom-created for, and only this station, is the commissioner.

commission:  a fee paid to an agent or employee for transacting a piece of business or performing a service

Thank you for correcting me on that. You are truly the ultimate expert when it comes to that stuff.
