thanks to the internet archive i have found three files of the frank gari's image news with nbc chimes used on wtvm in birmingham AL

they are

morning open
morning talent
evening open

however the evening talent is not in archived

if you know where i can find it let me know

plus i am looking for a shortened open of the eyewitness news theme w/bumper used on KABC (i believe on this site it is under versions 1&2 although the one here doesn't have the bumper with it ) i had got it from the abc7 fansite around 2002-2003 or so but since then i have purchased new computers and most of my files have disappeared

if you know of a place i can track it down let me know (i e-mailed fansite's owner he responded about 5 or 6 months ago and haven't heard a word from him since)

thanks

Three CBS O&O's adopting CBS O&O graphics and "Enforcer-New Generation 2", all in the same day?! Man, what a crazy day to pick for that change. Back on August 16th, WWJ-TV adopted the graphics too, for their weather reports and morning show (with news reports from the Detroit Free Press). I wonder if KOVR in Sacramento will be next in line for the change.

Do you know which music WWJ used for their non-in-house morning show? Anyway, KYW continue to use that same cue used from NG1 for their opens. KDKA is using several series of the theme. And KPIX appears to have NG2 for their openings. I have a feeling KOVR won't be far behind.

Could be "Enforcer-New Generation 3", but they only use the theme for its teasers, opens, and rejoins.

I will be waiting for the day when WJZ updates everything - graphics and music. Because the late 80s just called and they want their look back.

Amen to that!  WJZ may be the only station "improved" by the O&O look.  CBS please force the mandate on 'JZ  Roll Eyes

First post in a while. But here's my 2 [no pun intended] cents.

It's 2010. Nobody need say "in high definition" anymore, much less show it in their logos, but hell... IMO, they really should localize their voiceovers; for example, "Live from Battery and Broadway..." or "Live from Gateway Center..."

The graphic packages. It is a crying shame about station standardization going out on this level, especially when the main font is Arial. [Eech.] Hell, if they wanted to, they could've chose another font, such as Myriad Pro (like KYW, who had to give that up too) or Helvetica (like we've heard from so many). The rub - this package was designed to pretty much limit, if not eliminate costs for graphics, so there's no need to buy fonts. With how they look in our eyes....bullsh!t. But after a while, it does grow on you.

NOW...the music. I was always a fan of the Battery series. Still am to a point. I suppose if KPIX had the choice, they could've reverted to the old school Battery series for the opens, and mix and match with AWYT. I have yet to see KPIX with the O&O getup. As for KDKA, it's a dramatic change. No more WBBM graphics (updated time and again over 5 years). No more tacky graphics animation. KDKA-TV News name? Kept. And even though KDKA-TV Prime had to go, it's probably for the better, not just because the limit of cuts was gettin to us, but because they are now doing what 91% of news stations nowadays are forgoing - taking advantage of a massive news music collection, and milking it.

The open is NG2. The tease is original series 2. The breaking news sting is original series 3 (where it belongs).

This is series 4. (Hell, this really works...)

This is series 5.

And THIS is series 6 (aka the Hegner mix)

All-in-all, a good step up for KDKA, a step down for KYW, a step God knows where for KPIX. And no offense to Chroma Cues extremists, but I will be waiting for the day when WJZ updates everything - graphics and music. Because the late 80s just called and they want their look back.

So sad to see all these stations becoming clones of WCBS...I'm still puzzled why they chose WCBS.  I am especially saddened to see KDKA and KPIX get "the look"...it's an end of an era .  KPIX's memorable "Battery" melody has been around for nearly 15 years.  This music is part of the Bay Area history and its something we have all come to know and love.  The KPIX 2001 look with 615's updates to Battery and a classy graphics package by Hothaus was a favorite of mine:

I'm also going to miss KDKA's vibrant look and sound.  There hasn't been a single station like them, and now, there isn't going to be:

Its likely that WBZ and WCCO are going to be allowed to keep their packages, but Baltimore's WJZ is still holding out.  There's not a chance in my mind CBS will let 'JZ keep their graphics and music.  Thoughts??

With three CBS O&Os implementing the new O&O graphics today, We say goodbye to KDKA Prime by Soundbyte, Inc. & Battery v.4 (Always Worth Your Time) by 615 Music of Nashville used by KDKA 2 in Pittsburgh & KPIX 5 in San Francisco, respectively. KYW also debuted their new graphics, as well. All THREE are using the Enforcer Package!!

It wasn't no more then about 4 years ago when we first heard Always Worth Your Time from the 615 website before CBS 5 debut it during the february books in 2007, based on their longtime theme 'Battery'. KDKA used their Prime package since '98 with some updates that followed not too long afterward. It's just a shame that two packages that had strong distinctive brands, have to be dropped and replaced by these new WCBS graphics and now the over-used Enforcer theme. Only 3 stations that have switched to the new graphics, kept their old themes (KCNC with Newstime & WFOR/WBFS with Moving Forward (both now the only 2 O&Os that are using 615 material)) That doesn't make any sense. In some degree, I'm happy WBZ & WCCO hasn't gone with the standardization. And I just pray that they don't touch WJZ!!!!!

Makes me wonder if this station group/O&O standardization would become the norm soon? Luckily you have several odd-balls around. Someone from another message board asked if ABC would standardized their graphics? That would be a scary sight if that occurs, since many of their stations (WLS, WPVI, KFSN) also have distinctive brands of their own. I'm always for having your own look, having your own feel so a viewer can appreciate it so a viewer can come back for more. Not having every station getting the same thing, so if you're in NY and you want to fly to LA, you'll see both channel 2s with the same thing. I don't care if it's the Enforcer or 'nother Gari theme or 615, Arnold, or any gfx pack from Hothaus, GO, VDO, Renderon, or any other company or firm. I've always said, any station that wants to standardized just the please corporate, stations loses their own identity, their own individuality, their own locality and their own creativity. And to me it ain't worth saving the companies a whole lot of loot, just to have every station get the same thing.

Too close to "Indie Band" for my liking.  Where's the variety?  "Breakthrough" doesn't work for me...maybe Monotony or Lackluster would be more appropriate?
Logo is reminiscent of Reactor News, this one has an extra note though.

360 Music's 7th News Music Package is Breakthrough. It first debuted back on April 26th on WTNH-8 in Connecticut when they implemented their new look and rebrand from News Channel 8 to News 8. Samples are on their website.
